It’s official! The Youth Triathlon Club of Orange County has won the 2026 Southern California Overall High School State Championship!
Our championship team of Ryan Jo, Ryota Shiwotsuka, Ariana Sharma, Ashley Jang, Soriya Shiwotsuka, and Viviana Kim scored a combined 556 points, beating our nearest competitor’s 587 points. The championship uses cross-country-style scoring, where the lowest score wins.
This year, the high school championship included three categories: Overall, Boys, and Girls. The Overall Championship combines boys’ and girls’ results, while the other two categories recognize teams competing within each gender.
Although we won the Overall Championship, we didn’t have the minimum five boys or five girls needed to qualify for those individual championships. Another team earned the Girls Championship, while no Boys Championship was awarded because no team had enough eligible racers.
With a few more athletes competing next year, we could potentially compete for all three championships!
Congratulations to our athletes on another outstanding achievement!
